Madhur Bhandarkar, who gave 'Page 3' and 'Corporate' in the past, came with a different plot for 'Traffic Signal'. His selection of team is good.
Though 'Traffic Signal' has some fine-slices-of-life-performances, it fails to create an impression.
Young orphan Silsila (Kunal Khemu), who was born at the Signal, is now its manager. For him, the Signal is his workplace and a home where he
lives. He loves all those working at the signal, but would spare nobody when it comes to business. He works for the local goon Haji (Sudhir
Mishra) who has connections with local politicians. Silsila is unaware of this. Certain circumstances force him land into the bigger game and find
himself responsible for the destruction of his own world. Silsila knows that he can never take on a powerful man like Haji. And to know how he
strives to get his life and the lives of his family back to the Traffic Signal watch the film on the screen.
Performance:
Kunal Khemu looks the character and performs his role with admirable precision. Konkona Sen Sharma breathes life in her role. Neetu Chandra
does well as a girl who sells clothes. Well known Director Sudhir Mishra leaves a mark as an actor. The others are adequate. Music rendered by
Raju Singh, Shamir Tandon, Kailash, Jagjit Singh, Hardip Sidhu, Prempal Hans, Sandesh Shandilya, is average. Story is too weak. Direction is
adequate. Screenplay is the main culprit. The other technical aspects are okay.
