Shaurya

'Shaurya' is directed by Samar Khan who earlier made 'Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye' that bombed at the box office. The director has tried something different with this film and he partly succeeds in it. He has choosen experienced cast and crew for the film. The film is all about two friends who have different views about life. It is about justice, honour and faith which raises a serious issue. Samar is sure to win laurels for his brave attempt.

Captain Javed Khan (Deepak Dobriyal) is wronged by his country for killing a fellow officer and is charged with mutiny and treason. Even when he is tried in the court of law, the captain does not utter a single word as to what made him kill the officer. He believes the truth is too hard to digest. Two ambitious lawyers and best friends, Aakash Kapoor (Javed Jaffrey) and Siddhant Chaudhry (Rahul Bose), are assigned this task. This single case changes their lives forever. The case takes them to Srinagar. While Aakash decides to solve the case at any cost, Siddhant takes it lighter. When they start to unravel the case, they discover information that makes the case more complicated. An ambitious journalist Kaavya Shastry (Minissha Lamba) and Brigadier Rudra Pratap Singh (Kay Kay Menon) become crucial parts of the story. And to know why Javed maintains silence and what the unspoken truth is, watch the movie.

Performances:
Rahul Bose excels in his performance as an army major who is assigned the job of solving the case of a Captain. Javed Jaffrey is brilliant. His body language suits his role well. Kay Kay Menon is good. His dialogue delivery in the climax is impressive. Deepak Dobriyal is decent. He is one of the finest actors in Bollywood. Minissha Lamba is both glamorous and effective. The chemistry between Rahul and Minissha is fine. Amrita Rao is a brief role is first rate. The others have played upto the content. Music by Adnan Sami and Surender Sodhi is average. The poem rendered by Shah Rukh is good. The screenplay is held tight. Cinematography is good. Story by Samar Khan, Joydeep Sarkar and Aparna Malhotra is excellent. Narration is adequate in the second half. But the climax is well handled. Dialogues by Aparna Malhotra are interesting. The other aspects are okay.

Verdict: Average.
