'New York' has an original storyline and the director Kabir Khan's screenplay and presentation is good. The dialogues are sensible and the script is neat. The first half races to an entertaining start but things change before the interval, the second half is the one to watch out for and gives a hair rising experience at few points.
Story:
Story begins with Omar (neil) who hails from India and he comes to the US for the first time and lands in New York. This is for his education and soon, he meets Maya (Katrina), the cheerful girl of the college and Samir (john). Both Maya and Samir are locals of the city and soon the three become very good friends. Omar begins to see a new world and this happens through the eyes of Maya
and Samir for him. However, things take a turn when an incident takes place and their lives get into a turmoil of sorts. To add to it, in comes FBI officer Roshan (irrfan) and he begins to dig deep into their lives and soon the friends find themselves going through a frenzy. What is that incident, what does agent Roshan do all this forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Neil has proved his skills as an actor. His body language and mannerisms are perfect. Most of the first half belongs to Neil. John has come up with an explosive performance himself and he takes over the entire second half. Katrina Kaif looks seductive and her performance is impressive. Irrfan Khan as always performed great.
Music:
Music contributed significantly to the moods and due credit must be given to the writers.
Verdict:
'New York' is amongst the finest films produced by Yash Raj. Is a must watch movie for it's original storyline and great performances by the lead cast. 'New York' can be rated as an above average movie. |  |
