'Jodhaa Akbar' is directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar. Set in the sixteenth century, 'Jodhaa Akbar' has much more to offer. It is
a love story about a marriage of alliance that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput
princess, Jodhaa. The film has good cast and crew. Ashutosh is sure to win accolades from the audience.
The film begins with a 13 year old Mughal emperor Jalaluddin Mohammad presiding over the wars. The empire expands as the
emperor grows to be a handsome king Akbar (Hrithik Roshan) with an empathetic heart for his enemies. Feeling threatened by
Akbar, king Bharmal of Amer (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) offers his daughter Jodhaa's (Aishwarya Rai) hand to Akbar as a marriage
alliance between two kingdoms.
Jodhaa puts forth two conditions to Akbar. One of them is that she should be allowed to worship lord Krishna even after the
marriage and the other one is that Akbar should not touch her until he wins her heart. Thereafter begins the beautiful
relation between Jodhaa and Akbar.
Performances:
Hrithik Roshan's role as the greatest king of Mughal empire is excellent. His attire and body language are superb. Aishwarya
Rai looks glamorous. Her expressions are impressive. She is perfect as Jodhaa. The chemistry between Hrithik and Aishwarya is
fantastic. Sonu Sood as Jodhaa's step-brother. Kulbhushan Kharbanda suits the role of Jodhaa's father. Raza Murad is good.
Punam Sinha's guest appearance is fine. The others have played upto the content. Music by A.R.Rahman is pleasant. The song
'Azeem O Shaan Shehanshah' stands out. The film has high production values. Cinematography by Kiiran Deohans is of first
rate. Screenplay is brilliant. Dialogues are good. costumes by Neeta Lulla are rich. Ashutosh has handled the story with
utmost care.
