Imtiaz Ali's 'Jab We Met' has all the qualities of a romantic entertainer. The film tells the story of two
youngsters who develop an affinity while traveling together through the heartland of north India. What
makes the film interesting is the way it is presented by the director. The director is sure to win
accolades for his attempt.
Aditya (Shahid Kapoor), a young industrialist, is dejected with life because his girlfriend is getting
married to another man. Aimlessly he boards a train on which he meets Geet (Kareena Kapoor), a talkative
girl who is going to her hometown, Bhatinda (Punjab). She annoys him with her constant talking so much so
that he gets down the train to avoid her. She follows him there too. And the two end up missing the train.
Thereafter begins the journey of Aditya and Geet in which they will make their way through buses, taxis
and camel-carts, to reach her house in Punjab.
Once they reach Bhatinda, Geet's family thinks Aditya is her boyfriend. Deep within, Aditya too begins to
like Geet. But Geet has other plans. She has a boyfriend with whom she plans to elope. Aditya accompanies
her to Manali from where he heads back to revive his business back in Mumbai. And to know whether it is
their final goodbye or are they destined to meet again, don't forget to watch the film.
Performances:
Shahid delivers his career-best performance in 'Jab We Met'. He brings about a gradual transformation in
his character. Kareena, as a Sikh girl, is in top form. The film is a turning point in her career. The
chemistry between Kareena and Shahid is good. Pawan Malhotra does well as Kareena's uncle. Dara Singh is
perfect. Tarun Arora is wasted. The others are up to the mark. Pritam Chakraborty and Sandesh Shandilya's music is superb. Cinematography is fine. Narration of the story is of first rate. The other aspects are okay.
