Saif Ali Khan humbled by Padma Shri award  The government's decision to confer the Padma Shri award on actor Saif Ali Khan has met with
approval, scepticism and even outrage by different sections. But the actor himself is very dismissive
about being deserving of a Padma Shri.
"Honestly speaking, I feel really humbled and undeserving on being awarded the Padma Shri. It isn't
something that I had asked for and since Government of India has done this for me, all I can do is to
deliver my best and live up to it", Saif is quoted as saying by a news agency.
In the past, only the biggest names in the field of entertainment who have a commendable body of
work have been conferred with National honours, namely veterans like Amitabh Bachchan (Padma
Shri, Padma Bhushan), Rajnikant (Padma Bhushan) and Kamal Hassan (Padma Shri).
"This is why I feel a little low key because in current times, someone like Aamir Khan truly deserves a
Padma Bhushan. May be I wasn't really worthy of it. There are many people who deserve it much
more me", the actor said.
This year, apart from Saif, Rekha has been awarded a Padma Shri while Aamir Khan has been
honoured with Padma Bhushan. |
