Imran Khan from a chocolate boy to kidnapper From playing a shy and introvert boy in his debut film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', Imran Khan has taken a big leap by
playing a bad guy in this week's release Kidnap. Grandson of Nasir Hussain and nephew of Aamir Khan, Imran says
he had no clue how he would play a manipulative and cold blooded kidnapper in Sanjay Gadhvi's film 'Kidnap'. In
fact, Imran was surprised when Gadhvi finalized him for the role.
Before taking the film to the floors, Gadhvi did a screen test on Imran. The actor was given a few scenes to enact
and it was all recorded on a 35mm camera. Imran shot the scenes but wasn't satisfied with his performance. He
could not relate to the character. Surprisingly, after the screen test Gadhvi told Imran that he was on board. Imran
says not only could he not believe it, he was ill at ease during the pre production rehearsals. Tried best though he
did, he could not get into his character. This continued for about a week or more. But then something
happened.
Imran says the character took shape in his mind very gradually and there came a point where he knew he had to
create aggression inside him to play the role well. Then what? Imran took the help of music. He began listening to
heavy rock, death metal and grunge music. In addition, Imran tried to change his body language on the sets. He
would sit and walk as if there was too much angst simmering inside him. |
