Shaana's trysts with editing tables
Despite some of her big scenes never making it beyond the editing table in
last Friday's release, "Bhootnath", Shaana Diya, is upbeat about her next
film, "Idol" with director Lalit Ajgaonkar. "Such setbacks pull me back and
it's heartbreaking when your hard work is not in the final film. But my part
was strong and made an impact and the appreciation I have received for my
performance in the film is making up for it. So, I'm doing ok," says Shaana.
But she was edited out of Namastey London too and ended up being a glorified
extra in the film. "Yeah", getting edited out on the editing table is like a
Shaana special!" she says, mock seriously. "It doesn't really matter now
because I am writing two screenplays and if no one casts me in their films,
I'll cast myself in my own films It's hard not being from the film
"fraternity", but I love what I do and will find ways to continue doing so.
I'm playing the lead in Idol, which is being directed by Lalit Ajgaonkar and
it's a great role. We commence shooting in August," she adds.
And what if she gets edited out in that too "Well, I'm playing the lead
character so even if some of my scenes are edited, I will still be in the
film in a significant way" she laughs. Till then, it's hip hop dance
classes, gym workouts which keep her busy and of course, film auditions. "I
am big built so I need to watch what I do with my diet and workouts. What
better way to keep yourself fit than dance It's fun and doesn't feel like
exercise" she says.
