Jeetendra as Thakur in 'Gabbar Singh' If Sanjeev Kumar played the helpless Thakur seeking vengeance against Gabbar Singh in Ramesh Sippy's 'Sholay', then Ekta Kapoor has roped in her father Jeetendra to do the same role in the Bhojpuri venture titled 'Gabbar Singh'. This will be Jeetendra's first Bhojpuri film. It is also after a long time that the actor will be seen on screen.
Director Mahesh Pande says, "I told Ekta that I could visualise only Jeetendra in the character of Thakur and Ekta agreed. When I approached the actor he just asked, 'Has Ekta agreed? If she has said yes, then I will do it'. When I told him that it was Ekta who had asked me to approach him, he agreed instantly." But how did Ekta and he zero in on Jeetendra as Thakur? “There are certain requirements that I had for the role of Thakur. I wanted an actor who was physically fit. He also had to be someone whom the audience could easily identify with, and Jeetendra fits the role perfectly," Pande explains. |
