'Aabra Ka Dabra' India's answer to 'Harry Potter'
Move over Harry Potter! India's own "purely indigenous brand of magic" is all set to hit the silver screen soon.
Cinegoers across the country could soon witness what is already being described in film circles as the 'desi' version of the west's Harry Potter series in "Aabra Ka Dabra", touted as the first film in India made with the 3D Plus technology - one which would enable the viewer to enjoy the 3D effect not only on the 70 MM screen but also on the Television screen, just by wearing 3D spectacles.
Being produced by Dheeraj Kumar's Creative eye Limited, which has to its credit several children programmes on television, including the famous 'Vikram Aur Betaal', "Aabra Ka Dabra", scheduled for release next month, boasts of 'never before seen' special effects on the cinematic screen something which was made possible through the use of 3D Plus technology.
As Mr Dheeraj Kumar told UNI here:" "earlier in India 3D films were produced using Polaroid technology which required changing of screens to high luminance ones and also attachment of special lenses over the projectors. The viewers then had to use special Polaroid glasses in the cinema halls to get 3D effect.
All this entailed high capital investment of about Rs 1.75 lakh per theatre thus restricting the number of prints which could be released. However, the 3D plus technology called 'Anaglyph Technology', used in the making of 'Aaabra Ka Dabra' permits production of 3D stereoscopic films which do not require special polaroid lenses over the projectors and change of theatre screens to high luminance ones, thus eliminating high capital investment per theatre and permitting release of unlimited prints even in small theatres with outdated projection system."
This gives enough scope for distributors to make a quick recovery of their investment in the shortest possible time. "The 3D Plus film is different from the earlier three dimensional films like 'Chota Chetan'(1984) and 'Chotta Jadugar' released last year). For, the new 3D Plus technology enables one to enjoy the 3D effect on normal TV screen too,"Mr Dheeraj Kumar said.
