Director Farhan Akhtar, who gave us 'Dil Chahta Hai' in the past, has come out with the remake of a Big B starrer 'Don' with the same title with Shah Rukh in the lead. Farhan has tried to do a better flick like the original but could partly succeed in his attempt. Some of the technical aspects are innovative.
Don (Shah Rukh Khan) handles drug trafficking in Malaysia. DCP Desilva (Boman Irani) is after him. He finally manages to capture a wounded Don. Unknown to his own department, Desilva recruits and trains Vijay (Shah Rukh again), a man who is a splitting image of Don. Vijay starts acting like Don and manages to give Desilva all the information he needs. One day, the DCP is killed in an accident and the fact that Don is in fact Vijay, is buried with him. Now Vijay is on the run to save himself from cops as well as Don's men. And how Vijay manages to escape, taking the help of Roma (Priyanka Chopra) and Jasjit (Arjun Rampal), forms the remaining part of the story.
Performance:
Shah Rukh Khan did his best in the title role as Don. His role as Vijay is fine. Arjun Rampal is adequate as Jasjit. Kareena Kapoor did well in a song. Priyanka Chopra did an excellent performance as Roma. Isha Koppikar is okay. Boman Irani is fine as DCP. Chunky and Om Puri have got least impact. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is good. Song sequences are good. Choreography is first rate. Action sequences are interesting. Farhan Akhtar's direction is not upto the point as original. It works because of Shah Rukh's presence in the central role. The other technical aspects are fine.
