'Dil Ka Rishta' is a triangular love story, completly dominated by Ash. The story is penned by Vrinda Rai (Ash's mom) and is produced by Ash and her brother Aditya. The story is about life, relations and bonds. The movie reminds us of 'Hum Dil De chuke Sanam' and 'Devdas'. The movie has nothing to offer but the ravishing beauty of Ash.
Tia (aishwariya Rai), is a teacher at a deaf and dumb school. Jai (Arjun Rampal) a millionare falls for her beauty and charm and falls in love with her. He decides to marry her at any cost. His father Paresh Rawal, who is more of a friend, sets out to fulfill his dream. But Tia has a steady boyfriend Raj (Priyanshu).
The two have plans of getting married soon much to Jai’s disappointment. But he pursues her unashamedly even after she ties the knot with Raj. Misfortune awaits her when a drunken Jai hits their car, fatally injuring Raj. The accident results in Tia losing her memory too.
This sudden twist of fate changes Jai’s life drastically and he promises to make amends. A devastated Jai begins to keep his distance from Tia.
Tia senses the change in Jai. For the first time she also feels a soft emotion for him in her heart. She realizes how rudely she had been rebuffing his advances.
Tia begins to show genuine interest in Jai. But now it is Jai who has troubles reciprocating her feelings. What follows is a mixture of human emotions.
The chemistry between Ash and Arjun is excellent. Priyanshu Chatterji plays his marginal role and did well. Director Naresh Malhotra draws the story to its logical and expected end. Dil Ka Rishta captures attention owing to beautiful cinematic presentation by editor-director Naresh Malhotra. Music by Nadeem Shravan is catchy and lyrics by Sameer is good. Choreography also deserves appreciation. To sum up 'Dil Ka Rishta' is a neat light-hearted romantic family entertainer.
