'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' is directed by Priyadarshan. The film is a remake of the Malayalam hit
'Manichitrathazhu'. It is completely different from his earlier films. And the reason is that it has
everything. There is comedy and good music. Also there is suspense which is one of the interesting element
in any film. The director is sure to win laurels. The star selection is of first rate.
Siddharth (Shiney Ahuja) returns to his hometown in India from America along with his wife Anvi (Vidya
Balan). The couple get a resounding welcome from Siddharth's family including Radha (Amisha Patel), the
adopted daughter of the family who once harboured a secret love for Siddharth. Siddharth insists on
staying in his ancestral mansion, which is believed to be haunted. The family opposes his decision, but he
does not care their sayings. Thereafter begin a series of unexpected incidents as they move into the
mansion. Siddharth then calls up his friend Dr. Aditya (Akshay Kumar), a psychiatrist who takes the
challenge of unraveling the mystery.
Performances:
Akshay Kumar has done an excellent job. A role with comic shades comes easy to him. Vidya Balan is superb. She gets good role. Shiney Ahuja is impressive. Amisha gets a key role to play. Paresh Rawal does his role with ease. Rajpal Yadav succeeds in making audience laugh. Manoj Joshi suits the character as Shiney's uncle. The others have played upto the content. Music by Pritam is of first rate. The song "Hare Krishna Hare Ram" is a chartbuster. Cinematography is excellent. The film has high production values. Though story is old the presentation is new. Priyadarshan's direction is fine. Other technical aspects are okay.
