Director Anil Sharma, who gave us interesting flicks like 'Hukumat' and 'Gadar', is back
with yet another venture, 'Apne'. The film forms family bonds as its backdrop. It shows how
people sacrifice their dreams in order to keep their families intact. The director proves
his talent once again with this emotional flick.
Baldev Singh Choudhary (Dharmendra) is an ex-olympian who has never achieved his dream of
becoming India's first heavywheight boxing champion in his career. Baldev wants to train his
elder son Angad (Sunny Deol) in the sport of boxing to fulfil his dream. But Angad has some
other dreams and aspirations. Baldev's younger son Karan (Bobby Deol) is a musician. Certain
circumstances force Karan to give up his musical career and decide to take up boxing. And
how Karan, with the help of his brother, succeeds in making his father's dream come true, is
to be seen on the big screen.
Performance:
Dharmendra steals the show with his performance. This proves that he is a talented actor.
Sunny Deol does his role with complete dedication. The emotional sequences between
Dharmendra and Sunny are impressive. Bobby Deol is good. Kirron Kher is efficient. Shilpa
Shetty looks pretty in her attire. Katrina Kaif has little to do. The others have done upto
the content. Music by Himesh Reshammiya is pleasant. Cinematography is good. Dialogues are
touching. Story and Direction are fine. Stunt sequences are catchy. The other technical
aspects are alright.
